Wooden altar depincting Saint Francis of Paola
The work is housed in the altar on the left inside the Church of San Felice, The painting is attributed to the Pisan painter, Giovan Battista Tempesti (1732-1804).
It depicts the miracle of Saint Francis of Paola who, according to legend crossed the Strait of Messina on his cloak after the boatman Pietro Coloso had refused to accompany him for free.
This miracle helped give Francis of Paola the title of patron of Italian sailors.
