This 15th century wooden work, attributed to the so-called Master of the Collegiate Church of Barga, is currently housed in the chapel in the left-hand apse of the Duomo
The "picta" panel depicts the crucified Christ flanked, on the horizontal terminals, by Mary (left) and Saint George (right). Above Christ’s head there are two symbolic images: the redeemer with book open at the text "Ego sum lux mundi "(John 8.12) and a pelican feeding its young with its own blood, a clear identification of Jesus' sacrifice.
