Saint Anthony the abbot

The Della Robbia artist puts all his ingenious creativity into presenting the figure of Saint Anthony as a kind of fairly modern monk

The figure is hieratic with little hair and long beard. Two brown eyes seem to scrutinize the other viewer. The tunic under the coat is brown sheepskin, that same sheepskin with which he wanted to be buried as the sign of his vows of poverty. The artist thus proves that he knows the life story of the saint.
