Fortified settlements MONTE ROTONDO

On the Martani mountains we have evident traces of castellieri (small fortified settlements, or villages, generally built in an easily defensible elevated position) since the sixth century BC. made by the Umbrians: the most famous are found in Monte Castro (near Massa Martana), on Monte Schignano (near Viepri), but also in Monte Cerchio (near Colpetrazzo) and Monte Rotondo (near Acquaparta).
